Lawyers stage dharna in support of demands

JAMMU, Nov 13: J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu under the leadership of its President Senior Advocate M K Bhardwaj held a protest dharna in the District Court Complex.
The protest was held in support of demands which include revocation of the order of shifting of Debt Recovery Tribunal to Chandigarh, creation of five benches of the Central Administrative Tribunal in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh for the smooth functioning and shifting of CAT Bench in the court premises.
The protesting lawyers were also demanding restoration of physical hearing of Central Administrative Tribunal Bench, shifting of Sub Registrar offices in court premises, establishment of Consumer Forums in the court premises and setting up of Consumer Commission and Human Rights Commission.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhardwaj urged upon the Government to immediately concede all these demands so as to give relief to the legal fraternity as well as civil society. “In the event of failure to do the needful, the JKHCBA, Jammu, will be left with no other option except to launch an agitation in support of their demands”, he added.
Mohinder Pal Singh Pali, Vice President, Surjeet Singh Andotra, General Secretary, H C Jalmeria, Babu Ram Sharma, Nirmal Singh Kotwal, Usman Salaria, Abrar Khan and Rohit Sharma were among those who participated in the dharna.
