Lawyers stage dharna, take out protest rally

JAMMU, Apr 6: As part of its ongoing agitation, J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu today staged dharna in the District Court Complex and took out a protest rally in different parts of city. The Bar also suspended work in all the courts including High Court.
The protest dharna was joined by Chairman of Transporters Association T S Wazir and other prominent citizens of the city. The members of the Bar and Young Lawyers Association holding National Flags took out rally, which passed through New Plots, Ambphalla, CPO Chowk, Kachi Chawani, Parade, Shalamar Road, Indira Chowk, JP Chowk, Gumat Bazar, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Gandhi Nagar and then back to dharna site at District Court Complex.

They were raising slogans like “Coalition Government Hai Hai”, “Jago Jammu Jago”, “Go Back Rohingyas” etc.
While addressing public gathering at Gole Market Gandhi Nagar, Senior Advocate B S Slathia, who is also president of Bar Association warned the Government to refrain from creating wedge amongst the people of Jammu by projecting the ongoing agitation as communally motivated.
The members of the Association were protesting for withdrawal of minutes of meeting/ illegal directions of Tribal Affairs Department, fair & independent  CBI  probe into Rassana murder case, deportation  of  illegal immigrants from Jammu region.
Meanwhile, reports said that work also remained suspended in Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Bishnah, Reasi, Basholi, Hiranagar, Bhaderwah, Billawar  & other Muffasil  courts of Jammu province.
The High Court Bar Association also reached out to the common masses and various organizations of civil society in order to mobilize the public support for further course of action for the resolution of the issues/demands.
