Lawyers suspend work in courts, Tribunals, Commissions

JAMMU, May 22: The work in all courts, Tribunals and Commissions remained suspended today in protest against killing of civilians including a child during unprovoked firing by Pakistan.
A meeting of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association was held under the chairmanship of its Vice President Sachin Gupta, in which the Association condemned the unprovoked firing by Pakistan on Indian civilians and expressed concerns about the safety of residents of the border villages.
While speaking, Sachin Gupta said that despite India is trying to make peace with Pakistan the latter does not want peace and resorts to unprovoked firing on civilians every now and then.
He added that during the ongoing holy month of Ramzan when the Government of India has announced unilateral ceasefire, the Pakistan has resorted to shelling and firing in border villages in which civilians lost their lives and many have been injured besides other losses.
“The killing of a child in yesterday’s firing incident is against humanity and such act of cowardice cannot be justified by Pakistan. The residents of border villages have to flee from their homes and find shelter in camps. The main livelihood of the residents of the border villages is agriculture and related activities is severely affected as the livestock are being slaughtered and humans cannot venture out of safe zones due indiscriminatory firing and shelling by Pakistan. The education of children is severely affected as school remains closed and people live in fear of their lives”, he said, adding that Pakistan is a failed state and should concentrate of developing their country and stop fiddling with India.
