LEH, (LADAKH), May 27: Ladakh Connectivity Campaign (LCC) today decided to write to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and appeal him to ensure proper connectivity of Ladakh to the mainland through world class digital facilities, affordable air connectivity and effective media connectivity in local language.
In their letters the LCC will mention that the Ladakh region is geographically remote and located in physically tough terrain with steep mountains and harsh climate where winter temperatures touch minus 35 degree C and the region remains cut off from the nation for six months of the year.
The LCC leaders said top of this harshness of nature the people of the region feel neglected by the nation.
They said though Ladakh is remote by roads and railway connectivity but there is no reason to keep the region digitally remote. They demanded broadband facilities in each and every area of Ladakh region in each and every village.
They said the air fare for Delhi-Beijing and Delhi –London cost only Rs 18,000 while Delhi-Leh flights cost Rs 27,000 during winters. This way Ladakhis are exploited by air companies. In Ladakh China Radio International plays as if the station is next door while All India Radio Leh plays as if the station is in China. So this needs to be looked into, the letters added.
Seeking immediate intervention of Prime Minister, they urged him to ensure that Ladakh has complete connectivity to the mainland and the world through affordable air travel, world class digital network and powerful radio network.
