NEW DELHI, July 6: Lead prices were down by over 1 per cent to Rs 110.95 per kg in futures trade today amid subdued spot demand at domestic market and weak global cues.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the July month contract of lead fell by Rs 1.20, or 1.07 per cent, to Rs 110.95 per kg in a business turnover of 461 lots.
The August month contract of the metal declined by Rs 1.15, or 1.02 per cent, to Rs 112 per kg in five lots.
Marketmen said the fall in lead futures was due to a subdued demand from battery-makers in domestic markets and a weakening trend in base metals overseas as Greece’s vote against austerity and moves by China to halt the collapse of domestic equities raised speculation that economic growth may falter and weaken demand.
