Leading doctors from N India attend Jammu Orthopaedic meet

JAMMU, Mar 1: The 5th Annual Jammu Trauma Orthopaedic meet was organized by Jammu Trauma Society in Association with Jammu and Kashmir Orthopaedic Association (JKOA) today.
The Organising committee comprised of Dr Lovi Padha (Organising Secretary), Dr Sanjeev Gupta Head, Deptt of Orthopaedics at GMC Jammu, Prof. Abdul Ghani and Manish Singh (Co-org secretary) under the patronage of Dr Anil Gupta (ex- HoD GMC Jammu). Local faculty of the conference was Dr Rajesh Gupta, Dr Tahir Afzal, Dr M Farooq Bhat, Dr Bias Dev, Dr Amit Thakur, Dr Anoop Kumar, Dr Farid Hussain and Dr Neeraj Mahajan. They were all actively involved in the Discussion. Senior and Junior Residents also played a major role in making sure that the proceedings of the conference went on smoothly.
The conference was attended by eminent national faculty of international fame. The visiting faculty were Dr J. Maheshwari (New Delhi), Dr Navin Thakkar (President Gujarat Orthopaedic Association), Dr R.B Kalia (AIIMS Rishikesh), Dr Sunil Shahane (president Bombay Orthopaedic Society), Dr Deepak Goel (President Asian Cartilage Society), Dr Samarth Mittal (AllMS, New Delhi), Dr Naseer Mir (Prof & Head (SKIMS, President JKOA), Dr Shabir Dhar (SKIMS, Srinagar), Dr Fiaz Ahmed (GMC Srinagar), Dr Deepinder Choudhary (New Delhi), Dr Vipin Sharma (Prof and Head RPGMC,Tanda, HP), Dr Hari Om Aggarwal (Prof. GMC Patiala) and Dr V. Vijayaraghavan (Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu University, Chennai).
The conference was preceded by a pre-conference workshop on fixation of leg bone fractures. The workshop and conference were attended by about 200 delegates from across North India and various regions of U.T of Jammu and Kashmir. A PG Quiz was conducted by Dr. Mohd Farooq in which teams from various medical colleges of North India participated. 1st and 2nd positions were secured by teams from GMC Jammu while the 3rd position was bagged by the students from GMC Patiala.
Interactive scientific case discussion was held during various sessions at the conference. Chief guest for the inauguration ceremony was Dr Sunanda Raina (Principal GMC Jammu). She appreciated the efforts of the Department of orthopaedics in conducting these annual meetings.
Jammu Trauma Society is planning to continue the trend and has already announced for next year JTS meet (2021), theme for which is ‘Current Concepts of Trauma’ (CCT).
Aim of JTS is to provide quality training to doctors of Jammu province so that they can impart healthcare at par with international standards to the patients of the region suffering from fractures, joint problems and other bone disorders, so that they don’t have to go outside the UT for the same.
