JAMMU, Mar 22: Hailing the decision of newly elected Chief Minister of Punjab for increasing the OBC quota in Government jobs and educational, All India backward Classes Union (AIBCU) Social today asked the J&K Government to learn a lesson from Punjab Government and implement the Mandal Report in J&K.
“Captain Amarinder Singh, the new Punjab CM has taken 120 decisions according to the promises made in its party’ manifesto and one of the decisions is increasing of OBC quota from 12% to 15 % in Government jobs and 5% to 10% in educational institutions”, a press release issued by the union said, adding, it is unfortunate that in J&K till date no political party has raised the issue of real Backward Classes (called OSCs) despite Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s promise.
The release said that PM Narendra Modi had promised before 2014 polls to implement the Mandal report in the State but three years of PDP-BJP Government has passed and till now nobody from the State Government has even dared to talk about the issue. “Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, who comes from BJP, is also busy in his own job and instead of taking any initiative to fulfill the BJP’s poll promises, he had thrown the memorandum of the AIBCU submitted to him in Vijaypur Rally on April 24, 2016”, the release reads.
“All the policies and ways of working of BJP in the State keep the BJP on the same page as were NC/Congress, who looted the State OBCs’ due share of 27% as per Apex Court’s Judgement of 1992”, the speakers said, and appealed the OBCs not to vote in favour of treacherous political parties in the bye-elections of two parliamentary seats in Kashmir.
