Leave cancelled for Leh polls

JAMMU, Sept 23: The district administration Leh has cancelled leave of all its employees in view of upcoming elections of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh.
An official order to this effect has been issued by the administration and conveyed to all officials and officers.
“The employees, who were on leave, have been asked to report back to duty,” official sources said.
Authorities have suspended Ali Mohammad Dar, a Chemistry Lecturer, who had been appointed as Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) for Tangtse constituency, for refusing to perform duty. Posted in the Government higher secondary school at Sakti, the lecturer, didn’t join the election duty and, therefore, has been suspended.
Even on second day of nominations, no candidate has so far filed the nomination papers for any constituency, sources said. September 29 is last date for filing the papers for October 17 election.
