Lecture on “Next Gen Passive Optical Networks” held

REASI, May 6: The School of Electronics and Communication Engineering (E&CE), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organized an expert lecture on “Next Generation Passive Optical Networks” by Prof Anand Srivastava, Dean Infrastructure and Services, IIT Mandi.
The lecture was attended by the students, scholars and faculty members of the School.
During his lecture, Prof Srivastava spoke about the Next Generation Passive Optical Networks (NGPON) and their relevance in the current age of networks. He laid importance on heavy requirements of band width in the coming decade and the various new technologies being introduced to meet the requirement.
He introduced the audience to the concepts of Passive Optical Networks PON and FTTH besides OFDMA which will help in meeting the high demands on network bandwidth.
The session was interactive in nature and students were fascinated by the contemporary technology and asked multiple queries.
The School of E&CE regularly organizes expert lectures and workshops in leading research and technology areas to ensure that the students of BTech, MTech and PhD program are kept abreast of the latest research in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
The event was coordinated by Sumeet Gupta, Director School of E&CE while Dr Rakesh Jha, Assistant Professor, presented the vote of thanks.
