Lecture on Abhinavgupt, Laleshwari organised

JAMMU, Mar 3: Renowned scholar Dr R L Bhat today highlighted the non dualistic theory of Kashmir Shaivism given by great Shivacharya and scholar Acharya Abhinavgupt over 1000 years ago.
Delivering the public lecture on the contribution of Acharya Abhinavgupt at Durga Nag community Hall Anuradhapuram Barnai, near here, Dr Bhat said Acharya Abhinavgupt was a great philosopher who was the proponent of non dualistic theory of Kashmir Shaivism. He, while highlighting the contribution of other great Shivacharyas including Acharya Utpaldev, Somananda, Kshemendra the chief disciple of Abhinavgupt said their contribution to Shaiv philosophy is unparallel in the world. But Acharya Abhinanvgupt was a jewel in their crown. He was a great scholar the world has ever produced, Dr Bhat added.
Another lecture on contribution of Laleshwari the great mystic saint of medieval Kashmir was given by Pardeep Koul Khudbali, a well known scholar. He threw light on Laleshwari’s Vaakhs which he said too reflect the non dualistic theory of Kashmir Shaivism. She was a practicing saint of Shaiv Philosophy which can be reflected from her Vaakhs. Pardeep Koul read some Vaakhs of the saint and explained them in detail to gathering.
A question answer session was also held in which some social activists showed grave concern over the distortion of acts about Laleshwari who they said was a great Shaiviait. They demanded that he community scholars should come forward and put the record straight as such actions have hurt their sentiments. Those who raised the issue included Dr Ramesh Raina, Raj Nath Raina, Dr Ramesh and Dr Rakesh. They said that the community scholars should come forward and put records straight.
However it was said that the community is already working on it and many authors have written books on this subject. They made it clear that no one will be allowed to distort the ancient history of Kashmir and role of great saints and scholars.
The programme was organized by Abhinavgupt Shaktiveers a social organization. The programme was compared by H L Bhat, social activist while vote of thanks was proposed by Avtar Krishan, convener Shaktiveers.
