JAMMU, Dec 10: Women Development and Empowerment Cell of GCW, Udhampur under the patronage of Principal Prof (Dr) Nalini Pathania organized an online lecture on “Empowering Minds: The Role of Education in Redefining Social Constructs”.
Dr Sundus Quyoom, a prominent scholar and Assistant Professor from Bhaderwah Campus of University of Jammu, known for her extensive work on gender-related issues delivered an insightful lecture.
The virtual event focused on critical topics such as gender trauma, race, religion, female sexuality, and the roles of women in conflict zones.
Dr Quyoom also explored the portrayal of women in cinema, reflecting how media narratives influence societal perceptions of gender and identity. Her in-depth analysis encouraged participants to think critically about these pressing issues and fostered a meaningful dialogue on gender equality.
Prof (Dr) Nalini Pathania addressed the students and highlighted the importance of addressing systemic biases and amplifying the voices of women. The event was attended by students and faculty and received an overwhelming response.
Dr Geetanjli Rajput, Convener, Women Development and Empowerment Cell and members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dr Quyoom for sharing her expertise and to all participants for making the event a resounding success. Dr Shivani Suri Verma presented the welcome address and vote of thanks was presented by Dr Kamal Deep Kaur.
