Lecture on ‘Innovation Strategies’

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 24: The Business School, University of Jammu organised a special lecture for the students of its Business Administration Programme. The lecture was delivered by Prof Ashok Ogra, Director of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi on the topic “Current Growth Approach and Need for Sustainable Innovation Strategies”. In his lecture Prof Ogra emphasized upon the importance of sustainable development for striking a balance between growing population and decreasing resources. In a detailed power point presentation, he called upon the need for redesigning the current strategies that treat customer as the final arbiter, ignoring the concerns and expectations of a citizen. Prof Ogra while interacting with the students explained in detail about the concept of sustainable marketing which as per him is based on three criteria–customer needs, organization goals and synchronization with ecology. In his closing remarks, Prof Ogra spoke about three shifts–the shift from current consumption to lifelong consumption growth pattern, brand management to value management and Gross Domestic Product to Gross Nature Management. Prof Versha Mehta, Director, The Business School, said that sharing of thoughts, ideas and knowledge can prepare students for taking up challenging roles in their career and life situations. Among others present were Prof Alka Sharma, Dr Sameer Gupta, Associate Professor, The Business School, Dr Komal Nagar and Farah Choudhary.
