Lecturers Forum seeks fair probe into student beating case

JAMMU, Dec 21: An emergency meeting of Plus 2 Lecturers’ Forum was held under the chairmanship of its State president Narinder Singh Jamwal to discuss the situation arising out from the complaint regarding alleged beating of a student of Government Higher Secondary School, Majalta by a lecturer.
The Forum demanded that an enquiry by the Education Department should be conducted thoroughly to bring out the actual facts regarding the whole episode. The speakers opined that the said lecturer is a hardworking and efficient teacher who commands immense respect among the students and the public. “The preliminary reports suggest that the said student is involved in acts of indiscipline and had pushed down a female student upon which the said lecturer called him”, they said and added that the student also misbehaved with the lecturer and tried to mishandle the latter physically.
NS Jamwal assured the house that the Forum will take up the matter of indiscipline created by the student with the Education Department for fair enquiry for the dignity of the teaching community.
Those who spoke in the meeting included Charan Dass, Ashwani Kumar, Tarsem Singh, Talib Hussain, Romesh Lal, Narinder Sharma, Deepak Sharma and  Ravinder Singh Jamwal.
