Leela Karan accuses administration of facilitating bovine smuggling

JAMMU, Oct 6: Expressing his serious concern over the smuggling of bovine animals, VHP State president Leela Karan Sharma today accused the administration of being hand in glove with smugglers.
Talking to media persons here, today Mr Sharma said that though the issue of bovine smuggling especially that or milch cows was brought in the notice of district administration several times and despite its assurance that illegal transportation of bovines will be stopped the same is continuing indicating that the administration was hand in glove with the smugglers and mafia groups.
He, while referring to late last night’s incident of bovine smuggling said the Bajrang Dal team swung into action and captured a truck loaded with cows and other bovines who were illegally being transported in Akhnoor for slaughtering on the occasion of Eid.
He said the truck has crossed many police Nakas which reveals that this all was being done in connivance with administration who on the one hand assured the VHP and BD delegation not to allow the illegal transportation of bovines on the other hand was facilitating the miscreants in transportation of bovines and cows.
Terming it a serious issue, Mr Sharma said that this action has hurt the sentiments of the Hindus and VHP and BD will not look mute spectator to the same.
He said instead of arresting the culprits the police arrested the VHP activist. Raghveer Singh Vibagh Secretary VHP who was associated with the team which captured the truck was shocked when police allowed the truck to go which was also carrying the milch cows. Instead or registering FIR against them under Section 342, 323. 147, 148, 427 and 385 RPC the case was registered against VHP leader, he added.
He said it is strange that in an offence under Section 327 the Police allowed the truck to go. VHP leader also took strong exception to police action which during the midnight raided the house of Raghuveer Singh by scaling through walls and abused the ladies there. The request of Singh’s family members not to harass them as their son is a blood cancer patient and was on medication made no effect on them. Police took the Singh into custody and a baseless case was registered against him.
Warning the administration, Mr Sharma said that the same will not be tolerated in future and demanded that the smuggling of bovine animals be stopped. He warned that any delay in this regard will evoke protest from VHP and BD and its activists will come on streets.
The press conference was also attended by Hem Raj Khajuria, working president VHP, Dr Sham Lal Gupta general secretary, Dr Joginder Pal Sharma president Mahanagar and Rakesh Sharma co convener BD. Meanwhile, BD activists also held demonstration against the arrest of its activist.
