Legal action initiated against 8 persons for misusing social media

Srinagar, Mar 24: Cyber Police Srinagar today initiated legal action against eight persons for misuse of social media platforms for glorifying militancy, radicalizing youth and spreading anti-national propaganda online.
A statement issued by police said that during cyber surveillance and patrolling, 8 persons operating adverse social media handles were identified for posting content that promoted terrorism and extremist ideologies.
Police said that after investigation eight persons including four juveniles were detained for questioning.
They have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone, of Herpora Parigam, Kulgam; Zuhaib Zahoor son of Zahoor Ahmad of Brein Nishat, Srinagar; Abrar Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Nawabazar, Srinagar and Farhad Rasool son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Check Dara, Harwan, Srinagar.
He said that the juveniles involved were handed over to their parents after proper counseling. “They will remain under close surveillance,” police said.
