Legal aid clinics inaugurated at Majalta, Chenani

UDHAMPUR, Jan 24: Under the aegis of Patron-in-Chief Chief Justice M. M. Kumar and Chairman State Legal Services Authority, Justice Varinder Singh, and as per the direction of Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority Udhampur, R.K. Wattal, a free legal aid clinic was inaugurated at Panchayat Ghar Tehsil Majalta today, to bring the justice at the door steps of people.
The legal aid clinic was formally inaugurated by Sub-Judge Ramnagar, Amit Kumar Gupta, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Ramnagar accompanied by Munsiff cum Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Majalta Sudesh Sharma.
After inaugurating the clinic, Sub-Judge Amit Kumar Gupta said the legal-aid clinics had been established with the prime objective to make the free legal services accessible to the poor, marginalized and weaker sections of society.
He added that a panel of advocates and volunteers of Para-legal services will run the clinics for the benefit of poor people. Gupta said that the clinics are being set up even in remote villages to provide free legal advice and services to the residents who are not in a position to engage a counsellor approach the court or other Government departments.
He said the scheme had been designed to bring legal services at the doorstep of weaker sections of society. He further added that the free services include drafting of petitions, notices, applications and reply to legal notices. Apart from this, amicable settlement of disputes through Lok Adalats and mediation centres will also be encouraged.
Besides members of Bar Association Majalta, Naib Tehsildar Ved Parkash Sharma, BMO Dr. Nagpaul, SHO Sanjeev Sharma, Sarpanches Panches of various Panchayat Halquas, prominent citizens a large number of women were also present on the occasion.
Another Free Legal Aid Clinic was orgnaized by District Legal Services Authority Udhampur.
The clinic was inaugurated by Chief Judicial Magistrate Udhampur, Jatinder Singh Jamwal in presence of Munsiff Chenani, Sumati Sharma, who is also the Chairperson of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Chenani.
