Legal Metrology books trader for overcharging on school books

JAMMU, Nov 20: Acting promptly on the complaint of a consumer, a team of officers of Legal Metrology Department on Tuesday booked M/s Goyal Stationary, Main Bazar Akhnoor for overcharging, smudging and using self made MRP stickers .
The team was comprised of Joint Controller, Amar Singh and Deputy Controller, Manoj Parbhakar besides other officers of Legal Meterology.
According to complainant, the trader charged Rs 45 on a mathematics book for 2nd standard against the marked MRP of Rs 30 by the manufacturer. The trader was putting self made enhanced MRP stickers on the written MRP thereby fleecing hapless consumers and charging excess price from them.
The department sent dummy consumers to the trader for purchasing books and found the complaint as genuine Accordingly the case was registered and material was seized by Inspector Akhnoor, Pooja Kumari in front of witnesses. The owner was asked to produce the original purchased bills for ascertaining the actual cost of the items.
