Legal Metrology books two traders for overcharging

JAMMU, July 25: Department of Legal Metrology booked two traders under the relevant provisions of law.
As per official spokesperson, a customer purchased pack of Browni with ice cream from Cafe Cofee Day and was billed Rs 135. The customer paid the bill through smart card and was shocked to note that an amount of Rs 170 was deducted from his account, he added.
The consumer lodged the complaint with the Department which imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on the trader, he stated.
He further stated in redressal to another complaint, the Department booked one electronic rechargeable battery seller at Gumat for charging exorbitant rates of Rs 750 against the marked price of Rs 75 in the said imported commodity.
An undertaking was obtained from trader not to sell the said packages marked with deceptive MRP’s.
