SAMBA, Jan 8: Legal Metrology team from district Samba today conducted surprise checking in the shops, Atta Chakkis and other establishments and booked ten defaulters and realized on the spot fine from them.
The team led by Assistant Controller, Samba, Anita Sharma and assisted by Inspectors Mujahid Mushtaq and Narinder Kumar conducted market checking at Gurha Morh (Vijaypur), Utterbehni and Purmandal. They inspected Kiryana shops, fruit/ vegetable, bakery and sweet shops, harware and provision stores besides Atta Chakkis.
They booked ten defaulters and imposed a fine of Rs 10,600 on them.
The team during visit at Purmandal, made people aware about the consumer rights. They were asked to check the rate, date of packing and weight of any pre-packed commodity, before buying and approach department in case of any default.
