Legislators, VCs, JKPF president call on Governor

JAMMU, Feb 18: In separate meetings Altaf Ahmad Wani, MLA Pahalgam Abdul Majeed Wagay, MLA, Homeshalibugh and Abdul Majid Padder, MLA, Noorabad called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
Mr. Padder apprised the Governor about problems being faced by the people in Noorabad Constituency relating to inadequate supply of ration, frequent power cuts, long pending need for installation of receiving stations at village Nagam and Khudhangipora, improvement of HT/LT lines, augmentation of water supply, restoration of river Veshio and Kandai and development of potential tourist spots and facilities at pilgrim areas of his Constituency.
Mr.Wani apprised the Governor about the various problems faced by people on account of lack of in-adequate infrastructure relating to basic amenities, expediting pace of work for reconstructing the Pahalgam Club, re-opening of amusement park at Pahalgam and certain issues of service providers relating to the conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2015.
Abdul Majeed brought to the Governor’s notice issues relating to relief and rehabilitation of fruit growers, farmers and other flood victims in Homeshalibugh Constituency. He also apprised the Governor about issues relating to inadequate basic amenities related infrastructure in his Constituency.
The Governor urged the Legislators to continue sustained pursuit of development issues in their respective Constituencies.
Prof. Sudhir K. Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University also called on Governor, Mr. Vohra.
Prof. Jain briefed the Governor about the to-date status of important academic, administrative and infrastructural development issues in the University.
Dr. Pradeep K. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu (SKUAST-J) also called on Mr. Vohra and briefed the Governor about progress of the various measures being taken by the SKUAST-J for the advancement of modern practices in agriculture and its allied sectors in the Jammu region; the status of various ongoing research projects and the new varieties of seeds of various crops developed and released by the University in the recent past.
He also apprised the Governor about important academic, administrative and infrastructure development issues relating to the University.
Meanwhile, Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, President, J&K Peace Foundation (JKPF), called on Governor and briefed him about the ongoing activities of the Foundation and its future roadmap aimed at the restoration of lasting peace, harmony, amity and brotherhood in the State. He also raised reference to the varied problems being faced by the people living in the Valley consequent to the September 2014 floods and sought Governor’s urgent intervention to alleviate the people’s sufferings.
