LEH, Dec, 12: Ladakh accorded a warm welcome to Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport today.
Skyabje Togdan Rinpoche, Skyabje Palga Rinpoche, Khamtak Rinpoche, Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) Executive member led by President Tsewang Thinles, Chief Executive Councillor Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Dy Chairman Gyal P.Wangyal, Councilors from Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh, LGA President Venerable Shatup Chamba, monks and Chakzots from Hemis, Chemre and Korzok monasteries, members of Young Drukpa Association (YDA) and heads of political organisations arrived at the airport to receive Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche.
Later, Gyalwang Drukpa along with other Rinpoches was taken in a motorcade to Chowkhang Vihara where LBA representatives offered Mandal Tsensum to Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche.
Speaking on the occasion, Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche raised concerns over climate change being witnessed all over the world. He appealed the people to adopt vegetarian and added that some scientists are of the views that non-vegetarian also disturbs the environment.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion LBA President Tsewang Thinles and LGA President Shatup Chamba requested Gyalwang Drukpa to visit Ladakh during summer to impart teaching to the people.
Skaybgon Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche is scheduled to teach Prajna Paramita and Sengey Tsewa at Hemis Monastery from December 13 known as winter teaching festival.
