Leh Councillors call on CM

Leh Councillors in a meeting with Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed at Srinagar on Friday.

SRINAGAR, June 19: A deputation of Councillors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, today called on the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and presented a memorandum relating to the development of Leh.
During their meeting, the Councillors comprising Dorjay Mutup, Lobzang Nyantak, Gyal P Wangial and Phunchok Angchuk, requested the Chief Minister for regular air service to Leh from Jammu and Srinagar. They also raised the issue of making KU Campus in Leh fully functional by introducing popular streams so that students living in far-flung areas are given an opportunity to pursue courses in higher studies.
In their memorandum presented to the Chief Minister, besides raising several demands, the delegation called for installation of telecom facility in uncovered villages, absorption of unemployed youth in the private sector and enhancement of Plan funds.
Mufti Sayeed assured the delegation that he will get their genuine demands addressed on priority, in particular the one related to increase in frequency of air service from Jammu and Srinagar to Leh, which has been taken up with the Civil Aviation Ministry.
Another delegation from Rajouri, led by Minister for Transport, A. G. Kohli, also met the Chief Minister and submitted their list of demands.
