Leh, Kargil delegations meet CSC

JAMMU, Jan 16: Representatives of political and non-political parties from Leh and Kargil today met Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) constituted by Government to seek suggestions on new administrative units.
The delegations from Leh and Kargil presented memorandum about their suggestions and demands before the committee headed by its Chairman, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and members including Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for PHE and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Labour and Employment Ajay Sadhotra, Minister for Higher Education Mohmmad Akbar Lone and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliament Mir Saifullah.
Minister of State for School Education and MLA, Zanskar Feroz Ahmed Khan, MLA, Kargil Qamar Ali Akhoon, MLA, Nobra Tsetan Namgyal, MLC Sayed Ahmed Rizvi, Chairman Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Asgar Ali Karbalaie and Secretary Revenue Vinod Koul were present.
A delegation led by Qamar Ali Akhoon, Feroz Ahmed Khan and Sayed Ahmed Rizvi demanded District Status to Zanskar, tehsil to Taisuroo and Shergole, Naibat at Lungnak, TSG block, Sub-Division status to Shakarchiktan, Sankoo, tehsil at Shaker Chiktan and Drass, Niabat at Lungnak Zanskar, Taisuroo, Shargole and CD Block at Sodh, Barsoo Nalla, Stooth Zanskar.
Another delegation led by Tsetan Namgyal demanded district status to Nobra, tehsil at Disket, Nobra, CD block for Bodang, Turtuk, Tyaksi-Panchathang, Thand, Niabats for Tangyar, Khemi, Digger, Panamik Yarma Gonbo belt.
Delegation from Ladakh demanded Sub-District Status to Noukal, Sub-Division Status to Tangsai, tehsil CD Block and niabat at Neoma and CD Block at Kharau.
Delegation from Surankote led by Mohammad Akram demanded tehsil Headquarter at Buniketh/Sayllian, SDM Office at Surankote, niabats at Marhote, Lassana, Chandimarh, Shindara and Fazalabadin Surankote.
Interacting with the local representatives, Deputy Chief Minister said as a result of keen interest shown by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad and Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah, the Coalition Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah constituted a Cabinet Sub Committee to seek suggestions/demands of people from three regions of the state. The committee would submit a report to Revenue department for further creation of new administrative units.
The Deputy Chief Minster said that Government is determined to provide services to the people at their doorsteps and fulfill people’s aspiration.
Meanwhile, office bearers of the J&K High Court Bar Association while interacting with CSC stressed that process for the creation of administrative units should be fair and transparent and in order to decentralize the powers to the grass root level, suggestions from every nook and corner of the state be sought by various means including the on-line mode.
While carving out the administrative units the same blunder as was committed by the Govt. while passing a legislation which has freezed the delimitation and de-reservation of constituencies till 2026 should not be committed and the impression prevailing in the Jammu region that it has been discriminated in the devolution of powers should be dispelled at the earliest.
Further it was suggested that Ministers while discharging their duties should rise above the political, regional and religious lines, so that a person residing in the remotest corner of the state get benefited by its schemes and welfare measures.
