AKHNOOR (Jammu), July 30: Due to the total neglect on the part of concerned PW(R&B) authorities, the condition of Lehar (Sungal) to China Shop, Nai Basti (Thati) Road in Akhnoor area of Jammu district has gone from bad to worst. The rains for the last about one month, have further added to the woes of the people of this area.
Such is the condition of this road that private transport operators, including Mini-bus, Autorikshaw or school bus operators, often refuse to ply their vehicles on this route. The school, going children to various Akhnoor schools and even the government employees of the area get late due to non-availability of transport.
A local social activist, T L Sharma said that the road was not repaired for the last many years by the agency due to the reason best known to the people at the helm of affairs. Due to the recent rains, this road has turned into a virtual `Khud’. The matter was brought to the notice of concerned AEE at Akhnoor several times but no attention was given to the plea of the aggrieved public.
The people of the area have again requested the Sub Divisional Administration Akhnoor and the concerned Executive Engineer of R&B Div-III Jammu to repair/ initiate urgent maintenance work on this road as the public and the school going children are badly suffering.
