KARGIL, Sept 14: Union Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates for Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil and joined some of them in filing niomination papers in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
She also took a strong dig at National Conference and Congress and called upon the people of Kargil to vote the BJP to power for allround development of the district.
Lekhi is the first Union Minister to join campaign for the LAHDC Kargil elections scheduled to be held on October 4. Earlier, Congress leader and Lok Sabha member Rahul Gandhi had addressed a rally in support of the party candidates during his trip to the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Lekhi also visited Drass and campaigned for the party candidates along with BJP Lok Sabha MP Jamyang Tsering Namgayal.
During her visit to Drass, Lekhi accompanied party candidatesFayaz Ahmad Qari for filing his nomination papers for LAHDC Kargil from Ranbirpora constituency with many party workers.
The Union Minister urged the public of Drass and Kargil to vote for BJP in this LAHDC elections and assured that all demands of the public will be considered
She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very much concerned about development of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
She said the BJP believes in “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” and assured that culture of the people of Ladakh especially Drass will be promoted.
The BJP is contesting 17 seats in the LAHDC Kargil and is pitted against National Conference and Congress who are contesting around 22 seats each.
The National Conference and Congress have already entered into post-poll alliance to keep the BJP out of power.
All 26 seats of the LAHDC Kargil will go to polls on October 4 followed by counting on October 8.
