Leopard captured after 2 villagers mauled

UDHAMPUR, Mar 4: Wildlife Department captured a leopard after the wild beast entered into a Ramnagar village and mauled two persons, here today.
Panic gripped village Pery in Ramnagar tehsil when a leopard attacked two elderly persons working in their field.
The victims, identified as Manu Din (72), son of Feroz Din Gujjar and Majholi Ram (65), son of Cheru, both resident of Ward number 8, village Pery in Ramnagar , were seriously injured in the attack.
Locals took the injured to Sub District Hospital Ramnagar and also brought the matter into the notice of Wildlife Department.
On receiving the information, a team from Wildlife Control Room Tandey Udhampur, led by Block Officer Babu Ram rushed to the spot and safely captured the leopard.
The leopard, a female and aged around four years, was later shifted to Veterinary Centre Kallar Udhampur for necessary antidotes, where from it was to be translocated to Manda Jammu Veterinary Centre for further treatment till revival.
