Leopard found dead

RAJOURI, Dec 9: A leopard was found dead in the remote Panglar Narla village of Rajouri district, prompting the Wildlife Protection Department to initiate legal proceedings and a detailed investigation into the incident.
Wildlife Warden for Rajouri-Poonch, Amit Sharma said that locals alerted authorities after spotting the leopard lying near a road. Responding swiftly, a team from the department was dispatched to the site and upon preliminary inspection no visible injuries were found on the animal’s body, and all vital organs appear intact, he added.
The carcass has been transported to the veterinary hospital in Rajouri where a post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow. The Wildlife Warden indicated that early findings suggest illness as the possible cause of death. However, he added, the exact cause will be determined following the post-mortem examination.
