RAJOURI, Apr 11: Leopard attacked livestock in Bhattian village of Tehsil Thannamandi during intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, killing eight sheep and causing injuries to 12 others.
Official sources said that sheep belonging to Mohd Azam, son of Abdul Hussain, resident of Bhattian village in Tehsil Thannamandi of district Rajouri were ambushed by leopard. The villager is very poor and have no other source of income.
Due to increase in temperature villager had kept his livestock outside in the open and taking the advantage of darkness last night, leopard attacked livestock. On hearing about the incident SDM Thannamandi Vikas Dhar Bagati and Tehsildar Thannamandi Sahil Ali Shah also reached the spot. Locals appealed before the Wild Life Department to take cognizance of the matter.
