LeT comdr killed, grenade lobbed

Srinagar, Nov 21: Army apprehended a person who lobbed a grenade at People’s Democratic Party (PDP) rally in South Kashmir this afternoon while Police said that they have achieved a major success in South Kashmir as one of the three killed militant last evening in Tral area of South Kashmir was a top commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).
An Army spokesman said today that a team of Army’s Rashtriya Rifles operating near village Gondwani, apprehended a person involved in grenade lobbing at the election rally of Abdul Majeed Paddar, PDP candidate for Noorabad.
The grenade thrower has been identified as Nausar Ganai son of Abdul Ganai resident of Augam, Kulgam in South Kashmir. “The grenade lobbed landed in a drain. Rashtriya Rifles teams operating in the area, immediately cordoned the site. The grenade thrower was finally apprehended with active cooperation of the locals”, said the spokesman.
The spokesman said that Ganai was handed over to police and BD squad was called and grenade was defused.
A Police spokesman said that one of the three militants were killed at Aab-Ghar Tral in district Pulwama last evening was LeT commander, Shabir Bargat alias Haider son of Mohammad Shafi Bargat resident of Hina Bagla, Kalakot Rajauri was active since 2010.
The spokesman said that the other two militants have been identified as Shiraz Ganai son of Mohammad Sultan Ganai resident of Panzren and Aasif Bhat resident of Chinigam.
The spokesman said that Shabir Bargat was initially associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad militant outfit Altaf Baba group and then he joined HM and recently had joined LeT Maaz group.
Police said that Bargat was involved in the killing of Nasir Mir of Pinjura, weapon snatching at Parguchi guard in Shopian and dacoity in Rajpora JK Bank Ruhama.
The spokesman said that Shiraz was involved in transportation of militants involved in the killing of ASI Farooq, killing of two SPOs outside Pulwama Court and of four police personnel in Shopian District. “To carry out these attacks Shiraz transported militants in his car. In this regard Case FIR number 129/2013 and 42/2914 in Police Station Pulwama under Section. 301, 307, 7/27, case FIR No 130/2014 in police station Shopian were registered against the killed militant Shiraz Ganai. He joined active militancy Maaz group LeT recently”, police said.
The spokesman said that Aasif Bhat resident of Chinigam was involved in grenade throwing at Sangam in 2013. He was an OGW of LeT commander Ayatollah alias Maaz and had joined militant outfit recently.
