LeT militant held in Kulgam

SRINAGAR, Apr 11: Security forces today arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant in South Kashmir as he was planning to carry out attack on security forces on National Highway.
A Police officer said that based on intelligence input that LeT was planning to attack security forces on National Highway. He said that Kulgam Police and RR of Army launched a manhunt and established a special Naka at Sangus-Kaharoot road, resultantly apprehended one LeT militant Shakir Ahmad Itoo of Qoimoh and recovered one Chinese grenade form his possession.
The officer said that on March 26, a joint party of Kulgam Police, 9 RR and CRPF cordoned his house. “At the time of laying of cordon, Shakir Ahmad Itoo gave slip to security personnel. During the search, one SLR, 2 SLR magazines and 130 rounds which were dumped by him in collaboration with banned outfit of LeT were recovered from his residential house”, he said.
The officer said that an FIR was lodged in police station Kulgam. The recovered arms and ammunition were earlier looted from the police guards at Dalwatch, Qazigund in Kulgam district.
