3 militant associates arrested with arms

Srinagar, Nov 20: A militant associate of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was killed today during a gunfight with militants in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police official said that hybrid militant of LeT Sajjad Tantray of Kulgam was killed today in Bijbehara during an encounter when he was leading a search party.
He said that Tantray, who was arrested by the security forces, led them to a militant hideout where an encounter took place in which he was critically injured.
“When search party reached towards the suspected hideout, militants opened fire which hit one accused, hybrid militant of LeT Sajjad Tantray of Kulgam, who was with search party for identification of hideout. He was rushed to SDH Bijbehara where doctors declared him as brought dead,” he said. Click here to watch video
The official said during investigation hybrid militant Sajjad Tantray, who was earlier a militant associate of LeT and released from PSA, revealed that he had attacked two outside labourers on 13/11/2022 at Rakhmomen, Bijbehara in Anantnag in which two labourers got seriously injured.
“Later labourer Chota Prasad succumbed to injuries on 18/11/2022 at hospital. Weapon of offence (Pistol) and vehicle used in militant crime were also recovered on his disclosure. Investigation is going on vigorously to arrest more Militant associates of this module,” he added.
In the meantime, three hybrid militants were arrested at Shalteng area of Srinagar today.
A police official said that 2 RR of Army and Srinagar police arrested three hybrid militants along with a huge consignment of three AK rifles, two pistols, nine magazines and 200 rounds from outskirts of Srinagar.
He said that they were travelling in a car which was intercepted by the security forces on National Highway at Lawaypora. He said that during the search of the car, arms and ammunition were recovered. Those travelling in the car were arrested and handed over to Police Station Shalteng.
Security forces also recovered a pistol and two grenades besides other ammunition from a house at Panjtaran Karnah in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today.
“Based on a specific information regarding possession of illegal arms and ammunition concealed by one Rafaqat Hussain Shah son of Syed Akbar Shah resident of Panjtaran Karnah in his house, a joint search operation was launched by police and (Army’s) 6-JAKRIF,” police said.
”During search operation a pistol and other ammunition were recovered from the house. The recoveries includes one pistol, two pistol magazines, 16 pistol ammunitions, two hand grenades and two detonators,” it said, adding, “however, taking advantage of the darkness, the accused managed to escape. A manhunt has been launched to arrest him”.
