SRINAGAR, Aug 2: Police today busted a militant module of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and arrested four accused persons involved in developing an IED to carry out blasts in Anantnag town besides motivating gullible youth to join the militant ranks by using social media and online platforms.

A spokesman in a statement said that incriminating materials including hand grenades have also been recovered from their possession.
“Acting on a specific input, one militant associate identified as Aamir Reyaz Lone of Baramulla was arrested and incriminating materials including electronic devices were recovered from his possession”, he said.
“During analysis, it was revealed that the arrested accused was in contact with an active militant of LeT namely Hilal Sheikh of Baramulla. During the course of investigation and on disclosure of accused Aamir Reyaz, it was revealed that another militant associate identified as Owais Ahmad Shaksaz of Seer Hamdan is in the process of making an IED with the help of information from internet platforms. Accordingly, the accused Owais Ahmad was arrested,” police said.
It added that further investigation into the matter revealed involvement of two more militant associates and were subsequently arrested, spokesman said, adding that the arrested militant associate identified as Suhaib Muzaffar Qazi alias Tamil of Rajpora Pulwama was in direct contact with active militant Aaqib Dar (LeT) of Pulwama who provided a hand grenade to Suhaib Qazi in order to attack on security forces which was recovered at his instance by Police.
“Similarly, another arrested militant associate identified as Tariq Dar was found in contact with an active militant namely Aslam Dar of Kulgam and was providing logistic support to the said militant,” police said.
“Preliminary investigation into the matter revealed that the busted module was working for active militants of LeT and was in process of developing IEDs to carry out blasts in Anantnag town. Moreover, they were also involved in motivating gullible youth of the Valley to join militant ranks of LeT and HM,” police said.
“The busting of said IED module has helped to avert a major attack and also save the gullible youth who were falling prey to the propaganda of this online module. Further investigation into the matter is in progress,” police said.
