No aspersions or doubts needed unnecessarily be given any credence in case some security measures were taken; all in the interests of the contesting candidates which had got nothing to do or interfere with the process of campaigning and doing other poll related activities. An assurance from the Lieutenant Governor that the candidates had all the freedom as provided for under the democratic process must allay fears, if any and of any sort. It seems quite untenable that some political parties in the fray should build up such a false narrative.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has totally refuted the allegations and made it clear that the government ”guaranteed” free and fair polls to the DDCs and that every candidate would get equal opportunity to do campaigning from morning to evening . For that , the government was committed and was giving all protection and security to those candidates who had filed nomination papers. For that purpose, additional forces are being requisitioned from the centre. Although certain elements were bent upon disrupting these elections yet the government was committed to ensure free, fair and smooth elections to the DDCs. The terrorists were constantly trying to create disturbances but the Lt. Governor assured that “they are not getting any success”.
