LG calls for corruption-free Ladakh, development in last house of last village

Agriculture Minister reaches Leh on 3-day tour

JAMMU, Apr 10: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brigadier (Retired) BD Mishra has said that “corruption free” Ladakh is his goal as he is of the view that when these two things will end, development will reach to last house in last village.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Leh.
“I’m happy to be in Ladakh. Corruption free Ladakh is my target. When corruption and delay in execution of works end, development will happen,” Mishra said, adding development has no meaning till it reaches last house in last village.
Replying to a question on involvement of civil society in making Ladakh corruption-free, the Lieutenant Governor said he can’t do this alone but will make a team of those who are known for honesty.
After taking over as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig Mishra has met large number of delegations including elected representatives of people, civil society members, individuals and others to ascertain their views on different aspects in the Union Territory.
Replying to a question on the menace of drug addition, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh said their primary effort is to target supply chain and source of the drugs.
“We will hit supply chain and source of the drugs. Drugs shouldn’t reach Ladakh. But, if they reach, we will set up the Rehabilitation Centre,” Brig Mishra said.
He added that focus will be on schools, colleges and Universities as these are vulnerable Groups (for drugs).
Asked to give a message during the holy month of Ramadan, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh said the brotherhood should be taken forward.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare NS Tomar reached Leh today on a three-day visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh as part of ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’ of the Government of India for border development.
During his visit, Tomar will tour border villages of Ladakh, meet the people and assess their requirements.
On his arrival to Leh, Tomar met the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh and discussed with him the issues of the Union Territory.
“Lieutenant Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra received Narendra Singh Tomar, the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at Raj Niwas today. They discussed various developmental schemes being implemented in the UT of Ladakh,” a tweet by the Office of LG Ladakh said.
Sources said Tomar will visit forward villages for their development as a part of `Vibrant Villages Programme’ of the Government of India. Few days back, Union Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment and Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav had also visited the Union Territory of Ladakh and toured border villages in connection with the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’.
