JAMMU, Nov 26: The Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Constitution Day celebrations today to mark the 73rd anniversary of the adoption of our Constitution.
The Lt Governor extended his warm greetings to the people on the occasion and paid humble tribute to the founding fathers of the Constitution.
“Our Constitution is the holy book and enshrines eternal values that remain as our guiding principles. Today, let us all take a pledge to uphold these values and fulfill our fundamental duties to build a stronger India”, said the Lt Governor.
On the occasion, the Lt Governor called upon the officers to ensure that the benefits of economic progress percolate down to the poorest of the poor and those living in the far-flung areas of the J&K UT.
Meanwhile, the 73rd Constitution Day was celebrated in Reasi district with Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, reading the preamble of the Constitution at Spiritual Growth Center, Katra.
Chief Secretary, while highlighting the significance of observing Samvidhan Diwas, elaborated that the day is being celebrated to commemorate adoption of the Constitution of India and to honour and acknowledge the contribution of Founding Fathers of the Constitution.
He also stated that our Constitution has played a key role towards empowerment of downtrodden and needy people in the last row. He highlighted that this document guarantees Justice, Equality and Liberty besides promoting Fraternity among citizens.
Chief Secretary called upon the people to be proactively committed to their fundamental duties rather than fundamental rights only because fundamental rights of one person are offshoots of fundamental duties of another person.
