LG Ladakh holds meet with NHIDCL, BSNL officials

LEH, Feb 25: The Lt Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting with officials from National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), Hospitality and Protocol Department and BSNL here today.
During the meeting, the LG inquired about the delay in the completion of the construction of staff quarters and rooms at Gesar Palace.
He highlighted the inconvenience faced by the guests/officials and employees due to the delay in handing over the said buildings to the UT Administration.
General Manager of NHIDCL apprised the LG of the issue they faced in completing the construction work, including pending payment.
The LG also held a meeting with BSNL officials and officials from IT Department to discuss the delay in achieving the saturation of 4G mobile services under USOF in Ladakh.
Hari Om Solanki, General Manager, BSNL Leh, apprised the LG of the steps taken to resolve the issue faced by villagers of Phyang Phhulungs area and efforts being made by them to make as many BSNL towers operational as possible.
Highlighting the importance of providing reliable telecommunication connectivity along with fast-speed internet connectivity to the citizens of Ladakh, the LG discussed viable options to ensure that all towers are made operational/working by the contractors.
Principal Secretary, Sanjiv Khirwar, Commissioner/ Secretary Dr L Franklin, Secretary, Education, Bhanu Prabha, Director, Hospitality & Protocol, Moses Kunzang and General Manager, NHIDCL, CBP Madhurkar were also present during the meeting.
