LG Ladakh holds review meeting with Secretaries, HoDs

LEH, June 21: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting with the Departmental Secretaries/Head of Departments (HoDs) at his Secretariat to discuss various issues and progress of ongoing schemes/project works pertaining to their respective departments.
At the outset, the LG asked all concerned Departmental Secretaries/Head of Departments to work for the benefit of UT Ladakh and to inform the Advisor to the LG in case the concerned Departmental Secretaries/HoDs are engaged in some other work and the need to put up a note to the Advisor before leaving the station or availing leave.
The LG inquired about the updates on draft Recruitment Rules for various gazetted posts in Ladakh; the need to put a stop to the trespassing of Bakarwals into the Rangdum grazing area; the need to develop infrastructure to promote tourism at the Trout Farm at Damsna in Kargil; the update on the appointment of candidates on compassionate grounds under SRO-43; the update on the allocation of funds from the Government of India; the update on the establishment of Sainik School in Ladakh; the need to take necessary steps to promote sea buckthorn in Ladakh; the update on the installation of the Dehairing Pashmina Plant in Leh; the update on Government Degree College at Sankoo, Medical College and Sindhu Central University in Ladakh; update on the exercise of rationalisation of boundaries of Karakoram and Changthang Cold Desert sanctuaries; modifications required in pashmina goat pens; the tendering process for helicopter service in Ladakh; update on the implementation of Udaan scheme in Ladakh; update on the construction of the civil airport at Thoise; update on the saturation of 4G mobile towers in Ladakh by BSNL; update on Panchayati Raj Institutions elections along with expansion/delimitation of Municipal area; update on saturation of Jal Jeevan Mission project along with deficiency of drinking water; update on recruitment of non-gazetted posts through Ladakh Subordinate Services Staff Selection Board; construction of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at War Memorial Colony in Leh; procurement of MRI machine for District Hospital at Kargil; update on logo of Tourism Department along with implementation of Vibrant Villages Programme; promotion and tagging of meat of lambs from Changthang area; construction of public conveniences at Khardung La and Chang La passes; polo training of girls from the President’s Body Guard, etc.
The LG asked the concerned Departmental Secretaries/HoDs to clear the pending draft Recruitment Rules of gazetted posts; the need to engage experts to explore viable options for drinking water 30 years down the line; the need to formulate a Committee to increase production along with harvesting, pulping and marketing of sea buckthorn in Ladakh, etc.
The LG asked the Director Finance to follow the best method to ensure pending electricity bills of Government departments are cleared and asked the concerned Departmental Secretaries/HoDs to put up the demand for the installation of transformers based on their needs by the PDD Department.
