LEH, Aug 13: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), today held an interaction session with the officers of the Higher Command Course at Leh’s DC Conference Hall.
The Lieutenant Governor extended a warm welcome, expressing his belief that their visit to Ladakh would provide them insight into the actual conditions in the forward areas.
During the session, he shared Ladakh’s history and highlighted its significant advancements since becoming a union territory in October 2019.
The Lieutenant Governor acknowledged the challenges faced by the UT Administration, including ensuring potable drinking water, promoting youth skill development, and filling government job vacancies.
He affirmed the administration’s dedication to overall development and presented initiatives, including women empowerment, skill enhancement, and various economic pursuits like pashmina and wood carving, apricot and sea buckthorn production, and winter sports promotion.
Addressing military strategy and alliance, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the importance of strategy, organizational prowess, troop morale, and the responsibility of ensuring national security. He advocated for the infusion of humanism into the armed forces’ ethos.
Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche, a spiritual leader, appreciated Ladakh’s development and highlighted the region’s contributions to the nation-building process, aligning with the Indian Army’s efforts. He underlined the significance of education, environment, and spiritualism for Ladakh’s secure future.
Tashi Gyalson, Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Leh, applauded the Indian Army’s role in the region and the enduring relationship between the army and the Ladakhi people.
He celebrated Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre’s achievements, including receiving the dPal rNgam Duston award during their diamond jubilee celebrations.
Maj Gen Ajay Chandpuria introduced the Higher Command Course’s purpose and the intent behind visits to forward areas like Ladakh.
He lauded the locals’ contributions and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to national security.
The event’s attendees included Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhdeve; Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche; Tashi Gyalson; Prof SK Mehta, Vice-Chancellor of University of Ladakh; Brigadier AK Pandey; Brigadier DS Kadyan; Col Jyotisman Hazarika; and various course members.
