LEH, Aug 5: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Retd) Dr B D Mishra held a meeting with the Departmental Secretaries and Head of Departments (HoDs) at Raj Niwas to review the progress of various Government schemes along with pending issues of their respective departments.
During the meeting, various issues were discussed, viz. the establishment of Sainik School in Ladakh; attachment of Government teachers; draft Cabinet note on Sustainable Industrial Development policy for Ladakh; need to improve Sanjak-Khangral road; request from aspiring candidates, who have applied for the post of Junior Assistant in the SSC Ladakh, to consider computer certificates issued by non-Government institutes; substandard irrigational work at Skumpata; academic calendar of Polytechnic Colleges in Ladakh; issue of land belonging to Rangdum monastery; need to increase the honorarium of faculty of ITI and Polytechnic; monitoring of the Poshan Abhiyaan; upcoming Ladakh Education Fair, Himalayan Film Festival, Pushp Mela, Agri Mela; distribution of zero carbon emission tents/shelters to reduce the mortality rate of kids of Pashmina goats; tapping of surplus water from Leh nullah for various purposes; blacktopping of roads damaged during JJM works; need to issue advisory and take preventive actions to discourage single person hiking/trekking in Ladakh; notifying tourist area in Ladakh, etc.
The LG emphasised the need to complete the remaining 20 percent of Jal Jeevan Mission works by the end of September. He instructed that penal action should be taken against defaulters found guilty of overexploitation of withdrawal of underground water through borewells. He highlighted the need to check the feasibility of establishing Ladakh’s own state-level recruitment board so that recruitment processes can be conducted without any delay.
The LG emphasised the need to control ill practices and corruption by the road construction companies during the engagement of labourers and also to conduct an inquiry to find the erring companies.
