LG Mishra discusses ongoing, future plans of Ladakh Police

LEH, Mar 22: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) presided over a meeting here to discuss the progress of ongoing and future plans of Ladakh Police.
The meeting was attended by Advisor Umang Narula, ADGP Satish Khandare, and DIG Sheikh Junaid among other officers.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor instructed the Ladakh Police to make Ladakh a siren-free region and ensure the free flow of traffic, except in cases of ambulance, fire brigade, and movement of VIPs.
He directed ADGP Khandare to provide mobilization training to the police personnel of the IRP Battalion in case the force is called for national duties outside Ladakh. He further instructed the ADGP Satish Khandare to separate Home Guards, Civilian Defense, and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and place them under different officers due to the different nature of their duties.
The Ladakh LG also emphasized the need to tackle the drug menace and instructed Ladakh Police to coordinate with the Indian Army to put a check on the drug issue in Ladakh. He also instructed that there should be a rotation of SPOs (Special Police Officers) and police personnel should not be deputed at their home police station or police posts.
The ADGP Ladakh, Satish Khandare presented a detailed report on sanctioned and posted strength of gazetted, non-gazetted, and other rank officials along with the vacant posts in the department. The number of police stations and police posts in Leh and Kargil along with the police population ratio and population per police person, etc., were also shared.
The LG also instructed Khandare to fill the vacant posts in Ladakh Police at the earliest to provide employment opportunities to the youth of Ladakh.
