LG praises cleaning of Khushal Sar, other water bodies

SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has praised the efforts by the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) as well as the administration for taking up the work of cleaning the water bodies in Srinagar starting from Khushal Sar.
Appreciating the efforts, which he said is a big example of public participation, the LG said that there is a great example set by the people of Srinagar by cleaning the Khushal Sar.
“The idea of cleaning the Khushal Sar was of a prominent businessman of Srinagar city Manzoor Ahmad and the cleaning process was started with the help of administration coupled with the efforts of the locals. It is a great example of public participation,” he said.
LG said that Manzoor gathered locals for the cleaning process and worked shoulder to shoulder with the administration. “I thank him for whatever he has been doing. The work is being carried out and other water bodies are also being cleaned,” he said.
Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo who is heading NLCO said that he was thankful to the Lt. Governor for mentioning their efforts of rejuvenating the waterways and traditional navigation routes.
“Mission Ehsaas is a public movement driven by local communities and managed by Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO), which is working for the Conservation of Water Bodies for the last two decades. We believe in work at the grassroots level and it is indeed an acknowledgement when Lt. Governor appreciates our initiative at the event of SMC on Polythene free Srinagar,” he said.
He said that they will continue to do their work with more dedication and honesty, and will strive to revive the traditional navigation routes and the prime water bodies in Srinagar.
