Liaqat warns Govt for step motherly treatment with Budhal, Darhal

JAMMU, Mar 30: Choudhary Liaqat Ali, senior vice-president of National Conference for Jammu province today warned the Government that any step motherly treatment with areas like Budhal and Darhal cannot be tolerated anymore.
In a statement issued here today, the senior NC leader stated that the people of Budhal are continuously agitating at Budhal for posting a Tehsildar in tehsil office Budhal. He said that the previous Government while granting various administrative units, granted tehsil office for Budhal was also granted and posted a permanent Tehsildar to Budhal who held the office for some time.
“However, after that the new PDP-BJP Government took over, in order to undermine the achievement of the previous Government, it called the Tehsildar back and posted only a Naib Tehsildar to manage the tehsil office”, Liaqat Ali said, adding, people were given assurances by this Government time and again that the order appointing a full fledged Tehsildar will be implemented soon but till date nothing has happened. He also said that a similar fate has been meted out with the people of Peeri area.
While welcoming the creation of various posts of Additional Deputy Commissioners, the NC leader said that creating the big posts of ADCs and not making the tehsils functional, goes irresistibly, to show that the approach of the Government is biased and not people friendly.
He further stated that when offices of SDMs are being made available for various stations comprising upon only one tehsil such as Thannamandii, the people of Darhal and Budhal are also equally entitled to the similar treatment and SDM status should be immediately sanctioned for Budhal and Darhal also.
He also supported the genuine demand of the people of Tehsil Darhal for immediate setting up of a Degree College there, which is a long pending demand of the area. He said that the Government should not push the people of Budhal and Darhal to the wall for which the Government may have to face the dire consequences.
