JAMMU, Mar 13: LIC employees today staged protest demonstrations at LIC offices of Jammu and Kashmir as a part of Nationwide call demanding early and satisfactory settlement of wage revision.
The protest was organised under the banner of joint front consisting of Federation of LIC Class I Officers’ Associations, National Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India and Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association.
The demonstrations were jointly led by Vijay Kumar Khajuria, Secretary LIC Class-1 Federation, Rakesh Magotra, Secretary NFIFWI and Comrade Pawan Gupta, Divisional Secretary NZIEA ,Srinagar.
The protest at Srinagar was led by President NZIEA Comrade AM Tantray, Ajaz, Fyaz Gul, Amarjeet Singh, and others.
While addressing the gathering leaders said that the inordinate delay in resumption of wage negotiations was a serious concern. However, a joint letter had forwarded to Chairman, LIC on February 15 on the resumption of negotiation, but till date no response has been received from the management so far.
“The demonstration noted that today even the greatest detractors of public sector have admitted that LIC was the finest financial institution in the country due to the dedication and commitment of its workforce and has made huge progress”, they said.
For such commendable performance of the Corporation, it is reasonable for the officers and employees to expect a good wage revision commensurate with their increased productivity and financial strength of LIC.
Meanwhile, the joint front leaders announced to observe one hour walkout strike on March 17 to press the management and the Government for early settlement of wage revision.
Ravi Pandita, Romesh Chand, Raj Kumar Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, Dinesh Sharma, Shreshtha and Neelam Sharma also addressed the gathering during the protest.
