DODA, Nov 29: Additional Sessions Judge Doda Zabair Ahmed Raza has awarded life-imprisonment to Javed Iqbal, son of Abdul Gani Butt of Doda, who was facing trial in a murder case.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “Javed Iqbal is a young person and the imposition of sentence for life imprisonment would serve the interest of justice and that the present case does not fall in the category of rarest of rare case so as to the imposition of death sentence, which is of exceptional nature”.
Accordingly, convict/accused was sentenced to undergo imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs 30,000. In default of payment of fine, accused shall undergo further imprisonment for six months. The sentence of imprisonment for life, however, shall be subject to confirmation by the High Court.
