Life-imprisonment awarded in triple murder case

SAMBA, July 31: In the much publicized triple murder case, Principal Sessions Judge Samba MK Sharma today awarded rigorous life-imprisonment to Rajinder Singh and acquitted three others namely Mohan Singh, Rajesh Singh and Janam Singh.
According to the police case, on May 10, 2010 Arjun Singh, Parladh Singh and Gian Singh were murdered at village Shama Chak in Ramgarh area of Samba district over some dispute.
After hearing Special Public Prosecutor SS Sambyal for the State, the court observed, “it is not an exceptional case in which instead of life imprisonment, death sentence could be awarded”.
“Though three innocent persons have lost life in the instant case but it does not fall in the category of rarest of rare cases where the death sentence is warranted”, the court said and awarded rigorous imprisonment for life and fine of Rs 5,000 for the commission of offence under Section 302 RPC.
Rigorous imprisonment for five years was also awarded for the offence under Section 449 RPC.
