UDHAMPUR, May 17: Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur, A K Koul today awarded life-imprisonment to two accused namely Ashok Singh alias Bittu, son of Chuni Lal and Khazan Singh, son of Muni Lal, both the residents of Kothari, who were facing trial in killing of one Sandoor Singh.
According to the police case, Sandoor Singh was killed by the accused persons on June 20, 2009 over an old enmity. During the course of investigation, weapon of offence was recovered on the disclosure of one of the accused.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Navneet Gupta for the State whereas Advocate Ajay Bandral for the accused persons, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “the only conclusion that comes to the fore, after evaluation of the entire oral as well as documentary evidence in the light of facts, is that the accused have been connected to the commission of crime beyond all shadows of doubt”.
“They have killed the deceased in a cold blooded manner in furtherance of common intention. As such, they deserve to be convicted for the offences for which they have been charged and tried”, the Court said.
Accordingly, Ashok Singh was convicted for commission of offences under Section 302/34 RPC read with 4/25 Arms Act while as accused Khazan Singh was convicted under Section 302/34 RPC. They were awarded imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs 10, 000.
