SRINAGAR : Life returned to normal today in the summer capital, Srinagar, where authorities had imposed curfew- like restrictions to prevent ‘ Tazia procession’ on the 8th day of Muharram yesterday.

Taking out Muharram procession in the civil lines continued since 90s for security reasons.
Shops and business establishments reopened this morning in the city, including historic Lal Chowk, nerve centre of the summer capital, Budshah Chowh, Hari Singh High Street, Regal Chowk, Moulana Azad Road, Goni Khan, Maisuma and Residency road, which were sealed by security forces and state police personnel.
Road blocks by barbed wire were removed and traffic on all routes was plying normally though traffic jam was also witnessed on busy routes.
Work in government offices and banks was also normal and educational institutions registered normal attendance.
Majority areas remained under curfew-like restrictions yesterday.
Security force and police personnel faced, tough time to prevent Tazia procession in the city and had to burst teargas shells to disperse processionists at several places.
