Lift age bar for payment of arrears to pensioners: ROF

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 11: Retired Officers Forum (ROF) from Jammu region has urged upon the State Government to lift age bar for the payment of arrears of 7th Pay Commission to the pensioners.
An emergency meeting of the ROF  was convened here today under the chairmanship of  ID Soni,  president of the Forum to deliberate some points pertaining to the revised pension/ family pension in light of Cabinet decision No. 77/5/2018 of 24.04.2018.
After thorough deliberations by various executive members, it was resolved to approach the State Govt for giving an opportunity to pensioners to opt either Formulation- 1 or Formulation-ll, as agreed by the Govt.
Besides, it was also agreed to approach the Govt to make payment of 7th Pay Commission arrears to all pensioners irrespective of age limit against the Govt order to make payment in one go only pensioners of 80 years and above.
Also  DA arrears which do not stand paid with effect from  01.01.2009 to 30.06.2009 also were requested to be paid. It  was suggested to approach the Govt to enhance Medical allowance from Rs. 300 to 2000 at least, as at present it is nothing more than a joke when the cost of health maintenance has become so costly. Moreover, the expenditure to be incurred by pensioner on account of medication is the same for legislator but the legislator is being paid Rs 5000 against Rs 300 to pensioner.
It was stressed that process for execution of Formulation-II, may be expedited through Accountant General, as required as old pensioners are suffering heavy money loss for not having been given the benefit of Formulation-II, Under table 23,  all pensioners irrespective of their age be given the 7th Pay Commission arrears in one go as has been done in respect of pensioners of 80 years or above. The benefit of revised qualifying service to pre 01.01.2006, pensioners/ family pensioners be given in which the qualifying service has been reduced from 33 years to 22 years, as per the instructions issued by Central Govt. in the implementation of 6th  CPC.
