Sir,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the nation in fight against COVID-19. He is taking decisions to minimise the ill effects of the pandemic. Notwithstanding some expected opposition, the populace is following him. Though lockdown in the country with huge population and poverty was a difficult decision , he took it in the interest of the nation and the people followed him. Many people are facing difficulties on this account but they are following it as it was imperative to maintain social distancing and break the spread chain. Imposing lockdown was an emergency but its lifting even partially shall be well thought and managed. It should not lead to chaos and spread of the pandemic . We should not waste the gains achieved at the cost of huge economic losss. One of the measures should be aimed at allowing the stranded people in a coordinated way. There are many people who got stranded out of their homes. They are virtually in quarantine due to lockdown. The State Governments shall coordinate their journeys to their homes without getting exposed on their way. If they are again exposed to danger or unnecessarily quarantined, the purpose of lockdown gets somewhat defeated. We must not forget that many people hid travel history to escape quarantine that led to quick spread. Government should look to this aspect. Fighting hunger, preventing the spread of pandemic and treating its victims, providing healthcare, maintaining supply chain of essentials and allowing stranded people to teach their destinations safely shall be the initial objective of lifting restrictions partially.
