Lifting of AFSPA will be a blunder: PK

JAMMU, Mar 14: Panun Kashmir-an amalgam of Kashmiri Pandit organisations today said revocation of Armed Force Special Powers Act (AFSPA) will be a blunder.
“It has been established by incidents like Fidayeen attacks that unless the Government evolves plans to stop the State of Pakistan from producing terrorists and stops them to cross over to India and in such a case, lifting of AFSPA will be a blunder,” Ashwani Chrungoo-president Panun Kashmir in a statement issued here said.
Panun’s statement came in the backdrop of yesterday’s militant attack in Bemina in Srinagar in which five CRPF personnel were killed and two militants were neutralised.
Addressing a youth workshop here this afternoon Mr Chrungoo said, “The situation emerging in consequence of the recent terror attacks in Kashmir has assumed alarming proportions.”
He said terror attacks on the CRPF camp in the Valley is not only a serious security failure but is also a serious policy failure adding, “the recent spate of statements by the Kashmir centric parties and the ruckus created in the Assembly in the context of Guru execution and burial have further ignited the scenario.”
The Panun leader alleged that the Kashmir centric parties are competing with each other in order to play to the secessionist galleries and satiate the anti-India sentiment.
Panun Kashmir spokesperson Virender Raina said, “The terror attacks and the connected law and order situation have endangered the security and safety of the nationalist population including the Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir.”
“The Government needs to ensure that all those who have been appointed under the PMs employment package are not put to any risk of life or liberty and also explore the possibility of shifting them to safer locations outside the Valley,” he added.
